Meet your trainer

Hi, I'm Sarah Makinde.

  • Chartered Occupational Psychologist
  • PCC Credentialed Coach
  • ICF Mentor
  • BPS Assessor and Supervisor
  • Accredited Coaching Trainer
  • ANLP Certified NLP Trainer

I've spent two decades across higher education and senior corporate roles, designing and delivering exceptional leadership and management development for well-known brands.

I do this work because I've lived the transformation myself. NLP, coaching, positive psychology and mindfulness changed my life, and I founded The Coaching Corner to bring that same integrative, evidence-based approach to coaches everywhere.

Our values

What we stand for.

Integrity

Evidence-based, ethical training delivered by a Chartered Psychologist.

Connection

Small cohorts, real support, and a 22,000-strong community.

Growth

Lasting transformation, for your clients and for you.

Why we exist

Our mission, our philosophy, our standards.

Our mission is to equip coaches, leaders and professionals with practical, ethically grounded, evidence-based skills, combining coaching psychology, behavioural science and neuroscience. Our vision: a global community of confident, credentialed coaches who raise the bar for what coaching can be, one practitioner at a time.

How we teach

We believe coaches learn to coach the same way their future clients learn to change: through genuine reflection, lived practice, and a safe, non-judgemental relationship, not passive information transfer.

  • We learn by doing, not by being told: experience, reflection, theory, then practice again.
  • Learning is relational before it is technical: trust and psychological safety come first.
  • Evidence must be usable, not just impressive.
  • Inclusion is designed in, not bolted on: neuro-affirmative, culturally inclusive delivery.
  • Small cohorts, close observation, and only practising, credentialed coaches teach or assess.

The standards we hold

Ethical practice is the standard we hold ourselves to in every coaching conversation, training session and piece of marketing, informed by and consistent with the ICF, BPS and HCPC Codes of Ethics.

  • Integrity: we do what we say we will do, and hold ourselves accountable when we fall short.
  • Honesty and transparency about accreditation, fees and what training can realistically deliver.
  • Confidentiality, broken only where the law or a genuine safeguarding concern requires it.
  • Every trainer and assessor holds a current credential, is supervised, and actively coaches.
  • Clear scope of practice: coaching is never presented as a substitute for therapy.

In their words

Recommended by coaches and psychologists.

I have been a part of Sarah's advanced coaching certification. After two other certifications I can say that Sarah's went into ten times more detail and used evidence-based tools and explanations. It also helped me personally, as we practised in the sessions and could bring in real-life problems and get coached. I am already a far better coach than I was before this certification, and my clients feel the same. Sarah's energy is amazing, and the course feels safe and welcoming. I would totally recommend Sarah and this certification to everyone who wants to become an amazing coach.

I completed the AC Advanced Coaching with NLP diploma with Sarah to refresh my coaching skills and learn more about NLP techniques. Sarah created a very safe and inclusive space to learn and practise with a wonderful group of women. What I particularly enjoyed was the way she applied the evidence base behind everything she taught and aligned it to her applied experience as a coach. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a thorough and recognised certification which includes executive level, via a more contemporary and engaging delivery approach.

I have just completed the January cohort of the AC Advanced Coaching with NLP diploma taught by Sarah. I can highly recommend the course. The information was well presented and organised, and Sarah's teaching was high quality, well researched and resourced. She provided a safe environment to practise, make mistakes, learn, discuss and explore coaching models and NLP. The sessions were uplifting, empowering and informative. I have learnt so much and met wonderful professional women who will now be lifelong friends and colleagues. Thanks Sarah.
